Sarson Kaa Saag

SARSON(GREEN MUSTARD) 1 KG
SPINACH 250 GM
GINGER(FINELY CHOPPED) 4 TSP
FLAKES GARLIC(FINELY CHOPPED) 5-6
GREEN CHILLIES(FINELY CHOPPED) 3-4 TSP
MAKKI KA ATTA(MAIZE FLOUR) 2 TSP
POWDERED GUR(JAGGERY) 11/2 TSP
SALT TO TASTE
TADKA(TEMPERING)
GHEE 3 TSP
RED CHILLI POWDER ½ TSP
GREEN CHILLIES(FINELY CHOPPED) 2-3
GINGER(FINELY CHOPPED) 2 TSP

METHOD:

  1. Wash,clean and chop the mustard leaves and spinach leaves.
  2. Pressure cook the leaves with garlic,ginger and green chillies.Add salt and ½ cup of water.
  3. The saag will be done in 15-20 mins.Remove from fire and allow to cool.
  4. Grind the leaves to a rough paste.Add makki ka atta and cook for 15 mins on a low flame.
  5. Prepare tadka with green chillies,gingerand red chilli powder in ghee and add to the saag.
  6. Mix well and slowly.
  7. Serve hot with makki ki roti.
